DAY 10 – FINISH + COMPLETELY ORGANIZE YOUR HOME
Is there a space you didn’t get finished? A drawer you need to go back and do again? I know I did. Once I started moving items around, I fell into a rabbit hole of assigning everything a home. I needed to go back and make sure I didn’t have multiples of items in multiple places. Confession: I had scissors EVERYWHERE! Now, I have a designated scissor drawer and that is where they will stay.
Today is also a great day to reflect and make future plans on how you are going to maintain your new organized clutter free home. Because who wants to do this again? Not me. I’ve spent way too many hours organizing to turn around and have this happen again. It was honestly something that took me a long time to learn. I would clean and organize, only to discover a few months later it was back to the way it was. It was frustrating and I couldn’t understand why.
I learned it has to be a daily conscious effort to keep your home clutter free. Before I leave for work each morning, I make sure my bathroom counter is clear. When we grocery shop, before putting the food away, I reorganize the pantry. Each day I make sure my desk is empty of mail and unwanted papers. A few minutes a day can save me hours of organizing and de-cluttering in the future.
TASKS FOR TODAY:
- finish a space you haven’t completed
- check areas that may have got overlooked – under the bed, upper cabinets, storage bins, etc.
- set up a daily system to keep your home organized
