It’s the most wonderful time of the year! I can never say or read that sentence without hearing Andy Williams voice. Definitely my favorite Christmas song! It’s finally that time of year where I can overload my house with Christmas decor and post nothing but Christmas pictures without feeling guilty. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
A few days ago I shared my hot chocolate bar on Instagram and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I used everything I already have on my dining shelves – the World Market drying rack/mug holder, glass candy dish, spoons, and milk and cream holder. I moved my coffee machine over to the dining room (another reason I love my Keurig – it goes anywhere) and pulled out my collection of Target snowflake dishes.
I started placing the items until I thought they looked right and then knew I needed some type of sign identifying that this was indeed the hot chocolate station. Every time I go to Target I check out The One Spot and I usually find something I think I can use for a future project. So, off to my craft closet I went and spotted a chalkboard charger I had picked up a few weeks ago. Next, I looked on Pinterest for “hot chocolate bar chalkboard art” inspiration. Most were absolutely beautiful but way too advanced for me. So, I stuck with what I know – my handwriting, lines and dots!
Honestly I was very surprised it even turned out this well! I used a chalkmarker, also from The One Spot. I placed the board on the shelf and called it done.
I did have to make a Target run to pick up the hot cocoa k-cups and while I was there I checked out The One Spot again and saw the beautiful gold and silver straws. Perfect! The “cocoa” sign is a slate placecard I’ve had for awhile, I use it every season and just write something new with chalk. The little snowflake bowl will be perfect for marshmallows or chocolate chips.
I completed the rest of my dining shelves using my collection of snowflake dishes. I started my collection four years ago, and luckily every year Target brings it back and adds a few more items. I usually wait till after Christmas to buy the new items so I can get the best deal.
As you can see when I started styling my shelves, it was red tag galore! The greenery is from Michael’s a couple years ago. Snowflake candle holder is also a Target One Spot item from last year.
On top of my shelves are four plates I bought after Christmas last year and I just love them! They tie everything together! Mercury glass candle holder is also from Target. Unfortunately I cannot remember where I bought the silver glitter reindeer, but I’ll be willing to bet it was Target or Michael’s! The plate racks are from the Dollar Store.
I absolutely LOVE the dining room shelves! They are absolute perfection!!!! Love love love!!!!!
