As you all know, I just finished up my laundry room makeover and I am loving it, but I felt it was missing something. I knew the perfect piece of furniture to fill it – a vintage stool. Luckily, some very talented bloggers have let me in on a monthly trash to treasure segment where we share items from garage sales, thrift stores, etc and completely make them over.
I scouted my local thrift stores for a few weeks but couldn’t find that perfect stool I had imagined in my head. Last week, I donated a bunch of items to Goodwill and decided to pop in and take a peek at what they had. I found this $5 stool that isn’t really my style, but it had good bones and was in great shape.

I gathered my supplies and headed outside for a quick makeover. Two coats of chalk paint and a light coat of the wax was all I needed. I used the supplies I had on hand, but I’m thinking about adding a stencil to the top of the stool for a special touch.
So far the stool has gotten a lot of use and is the perfect place to drop a laundry basket. It’s the perfect height and doesn’t take up too much space in our small laundry room. Painting it white to match the other white details in the room was good choice. My five dollar stool will get so much use in the next few years, and you can’t beat that!
Be sure to check out the other talented bloggers to see what they turned from trash to treasure!
We will return next month with another set of fun and easy projects…stay tuned! What do you think? Do you like to take items from thrift stores and completely recreate them?
Aw i love this! what a cute idea!
