I’m so excited to be joining the One Room Challenge as a guest participant this season! If you’re not familiar, the One Room Challenge is a six week biannual event that happens every April and October. On Wednesdays, twenty chosen designers share a space they working on along with sources and design tips. However, everyone with a blog is lucky enough to join in on the fun as a Guest Participant and share their own spaces every Thursday!
I’ve been following along with this challenge for a couple years and have always wanted to join in. Well, this time I’m doing it! I’ve been planning on making over our master bedroom for months now and thought the One Room Challenge would be a perfect way to get my butt in gear. 🙂
I first started decorating our master bedroom last summer – including painting and a DIY barn door, but I never quite finished it and since then my style has changed drastically. Lately, I’ve felt that the room is too dark. I still love the color of our dark accent wall, but this room gets very little natural light. Plus we have black out curtains, that unfortuanetly Joe and I both need because of our crazy work schedules.
The darkness of the room started to slowly make me feel sad and dreary every time I walked into it. While, its great for sleeping it just doesn’t feel like a happy space or space I’d like to spend any time in. Much less, be proud of.
THE DESIGN PLAN
- horizontal board and batten feature wall
- lighter wall color
- lighter headboard and bench
- lighter curtains
- ikea hack nightstands
- simple decor and accessories
- simple gallery wall
For the next six weeks, every Thursday I will be sharing updates to the room. Then, I will share more details and sources for the design. I can’t wait to get started and share it all! If you’d like to follow along with my weekly posts, be sure to sign up for blog updates!
It’s gonna be gorgeous!!!!!
Thanks friend!
