Its the last week of the One Room Challenge! The final reveal!! If you missed the previous weeks or are curious about a DIY project in this post check out all the previous posts HERE. This post is going to be full of photos, but most of the projects have already been shared and I’ve linked all the sources at the bottom of this post. And just for fun – check out the before photos of our master bedroom.
I’m so happy with how this room all came together. I’m actually surprised I followed my design plan almost perfectly. Usually my designs turn out just a little differently.
The horizontal board and batten wall was one of the biggest changes and made the most impact. It was a super easy project, easier than shiplap! Ok, but my favorite are the ikea hack dressers we are using as nightstands. They’ve added so much more storage to our bedroom and the design is so eye catching.
Our new bedding is a dream! Literally.
I finally feel like we have a “grown up” space and completed master bedroom. I’ve always heard the bedroom is the first room that gets neglected when decorating a home, even though it should be the first. That is so true! Our bedroom looked like a college dorm for almost two years and now I never want to leave it. It’s bright, airy, and simple – all things I love.
From this project, we learned a few things – design can change your life and don’t put off the things you love. Our new bedding and pillows have totally helped our sleep and Joe & I have both been sleeping better. We also realized our future plans for updating the flooring in our house is more important to us than we thought.
When our house was being built, we couldn’t afford the upgrade to hardwood or laminate floors and settled on the carpet knowing that one day it would be replaced. The more and more I worked on this space, the more I started hating the carpet, especially now with my new rug.
Soooooooo…..I am the luckiest girl in the world to be teaming up with Pergo Flooring and we are installing laminate flooring in this room very soon! So stay tuned for that update!
Our diy barn door gets to be the star of the show on his side of the wall. Before, our room was so dark it was hard to even notice the door. But now with the ultra white walls and white bedding, his rustic wood shines!
Again, I’m so glad I did this little makeover! I love walking into our bedroom – its so bright & clean. I love that we have more storage, fabulous bedding, and a matching headboard and bench. It almost makes me want to even make the bed everyday! 🙂
