[dropcap]S[/dropcap]ince the completion of our master bedroom makeover and new Pergo floor DIY install, I have been getting so many comments and emails asking how I am liking our new laminate flooring so far. I’ve said it before and I will say it again – I AM. OBSESSED. You can see my previous posts on why we chose Pergo laminate, the color options, and our DIY installation. We chose Modern Oak because I wanted a light color with modern farmhouse style and a wide plank. It was the best decision we have made for our home so far and our master bedroom is now one of my favorite rooms in the house.
The laminate floors are super easy to clean, hardly show any dust or dirt and are super durable. Each week during my cleaning routine, I vacuum with a hard floor attachment (no rotary brush heads) to remove any dust or debris. Then once a month, I use a damp microfiber mop to clean them. The Pergo website has great tips on how to keep your floors clean and what items to use.
The best part about cleaning Pergo floors is you don’t need any expensive cleaners or tools. Pergo recommends a simple household cleaner that you can make yourself! It’s 1 cup of household vinegar to 1 gallon of warm water. I usually just mix this cleaning solution in our kitchen sink or a bucket. Then, submerge the microfiber pad in the cleaning solution and ring out until it is slightly damp. Be sure to not have any excess liquid that would leave moisture on the floor. Place the microfiber pad on the handle attachment and swipe the floors in a figure 8 motion to clean the surface evenly.
When we moved the furniture back into the room, we also added felt floor protectors under the legs to prevent any scratches or scuff marks. Our rug also has a solid backing to prevent any debris or dust from sifting through and getting trapped between the rug and the floor. You can check out more tips for your Pergo flooring HERE.
If you have been thinking about Pergo flooring for your house, don’t hesitate. As I mentioned, it was one of the best decisions we made for our home and the floors are so durable, I don’t even worry about them. Even with our dog Scooby running around and playing, the floors have zero scratches or marks. Gorgeous floors with amazing quality and durability, win-win!
