It’s the reveal week of the One Room Challenge and we have almost completed our master bathroom. If you missed the previous weeks, check them out for all the design plans, details and total freak outs.
week 1 | week 2 | week 3 | week 4 | week 5
And a special thank you to all my sponsors – Quality Bath, LexMod, Royal Design Studio Stencils & Lamps Plus!
Well as usual things did not go as planned. Sunday morning I went into Lowe’s to check on the status of our new vanity top and I was informed it would not be delivered for at least 2 more weeks. I think I almost cried right in the middle of the store. But, alas I carried on and tried to complete everything I could for our master bath reveal this week.
So I am calling this the semi-reveal! Trying to look on the bright side here and realize that sometimes there are just delays that you cannot control. I ordered the vanity over 7 weeks ago and I guess sh*t just happens. The last six weeks were a crazy time in life with working, my grandmother passing away, and trying to prevent my whole house from falling apart. Having only 2-3 days a week to work on our bathroom was NOT enough. I over estimated the time I would have and how much work each thing on my to-do list would take. Blah.
However, I can’t help but feel like I let everyone down – myself, my sponsors, everyone else participating in the One Room Challenge, but most importantly YOU – my readers.
Of course as soon as my vanity is installed, I will have the REAL REVEAL and completely make it up to you guys and hope that the wait is worth it. 🙂
Now that my apology letter is over let’s go back to the beginning in week 1 for just a second to see how far we have come and how closely I was able to stick to my original design plan.

BEFORE
SEMI-AFTER
In case you didn’t notice, a HUGE change to the space is all the tile. The floor tile is my favorite and I still can’t believe Joe and I pulled off such a big DIY project together. We tiled right over our existing vinyl sheet flooring. Ps. we are gonna have to re-grout the floor because of a little mishap with our shower project (insert eye roll here).
The white wall tile kicks the space up a notch and I love how it wraps around our whole room. It took FOREEVVVER (and I still haven’t grouted) but I love it. It makes the room feel so much brighter and bigger. I didn’t do the tile around the vanity yet, since our vanity top will be ripped out soon and I’m not sure how far up or down I’ll need to tile.
Taking down our large builder mirror might be one of the best updates. It’s a big change and was easier than I thought it would be. These simple mirrors are the perfect size, but I haven’t installed them until I finish the tile and our new Quality bath sinks are installed.
I’m obsessed with our Lamps Plus vanity lights! The shape of them is so sleek and modern. I hung them downward and changed out the light bulbs for a more clean look. I love how they just pop against the tile.
Speaking of lights, hello beautiful! This geometric chandelier from Lex Mod takes center stage in the room and I love it. At night, its so fun to see all the beautiful shadows on the wall.
I still need to finish painting our new wall color, but painting the door gray, Valspar Filtered Shade, updating to a craftsman trim, and adding a new door handle was an easy update that made such a difference! I love it so much that I wanna do all the doors in our house this way.
Another big change is our shower! I followed this tutorial and it was DIY that I have been wanting to complete for awhile. I’m so glad I took the plunge and completed it. I still have a few touch ups left to finish but it’s already the star of the room.
I still need to install our new vibrant brushed bronze rain shower and hand shower. I’m anxious to get it installed, but don’t wanna ruin it while I’m still working on the tile.
Overall, I’m really sad we didn’t get to finish but can’t believe how far we have come. This might be out biggest transformation yet and the most work, but hopefully the biggest reward. This weekend I will be able to finish up all the details and in a couple weeks our vanity, new sinks, and faucets will be installed.
I can’t wait to get this space all finished and take a very long relaxing bath!
