[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hen I shared our Fall Home Tour a few weeks ago, I mentioned a little update I made to our side table. Today, I’m sharing all the details on how easy this project was with one of my favorite products – MudPaint. I’ve used MudPaint before on our bedroom dresser and almost a year later, it looks like I just painted it yesterday. I first tried the paint because it required no sanding, no prep work, and provides great coverage. It is now the only furniture paint I will ever use. Its smoother than chalk paint and doesn’t give off that “painted furniture” look. 🙂

Our table was a clearance find from Target a couple years ago, and it’s got its own makeover before. My style was a little more rustic then, and now that it’s more modern I wanted to update it again. This table is the perfect size between our gray recliner chairs, so I definitely wanted to keep it and use it in this space!
DIY ACCENT TABLE MAKEOVER
SUPPLIES:
- table of choice, I used this one
- MudPaint, the color I used is Faded Gray
- paint brush or sponge brush
- spray paint, I used this color
STEPS:
- Disassemble table. This particular table was pretty easy to take apart with just a few screws. Because MudPaint is low VOC, its easy to paint inside and not worry about the smell.
- I used a sponge brush because I always have those on hand, but any brush will work.
- After, the first coat dried I gave it one more coat and then painted the edges.
- While the paint dried, I spray painted the metal legs of the table gold.
- I let everything dry overnight and re-assembled the table.
The Faded Gray is the perfect shade against the gold. The colors both compliment each other and definitely take this table from rustic to modern. I love being able to use pieces of furniture I already have!
MudPaint covers so well, I have more than half a quart of paint left over. This gray and gold combo is a winner, so I’m sure you’ll be seeing more furniture makeovers in the future!
What do you think? Do you have a piece of furniture that could use a makeover?
