I committed a big blogger fail and never took a before photo of this closet, but it had a small bathroom tower that was overflowing with all our cleaning supplies. The clothing rod was still installed and made it hard to organize anything. One day I was just completely fed up with it all and decided to do something about it.

DIY CLEANING CLOSET SUPPLIES
When I removed the bench from our dining room, I knew I could use the wood again for another project. It ended up being perfect to make shelves. I measured the size I needed and cut with my table saw. I used brackets I already had from various shelving that used to be in our laundry room, kitchen, and bedroom.
The shelving is easy to install with drywall anchors and a few screws. I kept the top shelf that was already in place and removed the clothing rod. Then I painted it all with some leftover white semi-gloss paint. This whole project was completely free and only took a few hours!
CLEANING CLOSET ORGANIZATION
One thing I had to do was round up all of the cleaning supplies we had around the house – in the bathrooms, under the kitchen sink, laundry room, etc. This year I wanted to get completely organized and that meant having everything in one place and everything had to have a home.

These fabric organizers were a perfect size and because they are low profile, it makes it easy to pull bottles of cleaner in and out. I used bins I have had for years and put everything I would need to clean the bathrooms in one cleaning caddy. Now I just can grab it and go!
Each shelf contains everything we need from microfiber cloths, Swiffer dusters, Magic Erasers, etc. Smaller bins help keep everything contained! On the door, this hanging organizer keeps everything off of the floor.
Full disclosure, I completely acknowledge we might have had too many trips to Costco without realizing we already had enough cleaning supplies at home. I guess that’s part of getting organized! I don’t think I will need to buy any cleaning supplies for the rest of the year, maybe two!
We have had this fully functioning cleaning closet for about two months now and it has worked amazingly for us in our home. I should have done this years ago!
