These last few days have been pretty intense huh? We are in the last couple days of the organized clutter free home challenge and today is going to be easy! Does your office space get cluttered quickly? How about your computer desktop? Is it full of icons and folders and your “to do list”? Let’s tackle it! (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
DAY 9 – OFFICE + COMPUTER
Just like the drop zone and junk drawer, another space in our home that gets cluttered pretty quickly is my office desk. It’s where the unopened mail goes until I throw it away, magazines, and anything else I want to clear the dining room or kitchen. You can see just how bad it can get in my Real House Tour post.
I have big plans for making this office space function a lot better, but for now, it just needed to be cleaned up. I put items that didn’t belong back to their assigned homes like tools, craft supplies, etc. Lately, I have tried to make a huge effort and be sure each night that my desk is clear and clutter free.
Digital clutter is just as bad as material clutter. I try to keep computer desktop just as clutter free as my real desktop. Digital clutter can add up pretty quickly! So, I organized everything into separate folders. Photos are organized by date and occasion, like Christmas 2015.
Photos can take up a lot of space so I move them onto a separate drive, along with other important documents. Now if something ever goes wrong with my computer, I no longer risk losing everything. Plus my computer runs a lot faster now!
TASKS FOR TODAY:
- clear off the desk – toss and shred unwanted mail or papers
- organize computer files into designated folders
- save pictures and important documents onto a separate hard drive
