Our entryway has been through a lot of changes over the years. When we first moved in, it felt dark and unwelcoming. The windows on the front of our home are open to bedrooms instead of our main living space. Joe and I both love the sunlight and we just had to have more windows in our home. The solution was a new front door. However, the struggle for finding a window covering was a challenge. It had to provide privacy, allow the door full motion, be attractive, and go with our modern style. BEFORE
Once our old door was replaced, the quick solution was a curtain that we could pull back and forth. At the time, it was a great decision as I was nervous about drilling holes into our brand new door. Plus, it complimented my farmhouse style back then. But as my style changed, the curtain just didn’t work anymore. The door was also not functional when the curtain was closed and could not be opened from the front. Ps. Our door is from Lowe’s and was custom ordered! They have a great selection and even installed it for us.
A window covering for any glass front door could be any type of blinds, shutters, or roller shades. However, our door is about eight feet tall and would be impossible for me to reach and pull down every day. I literally pulled it out of the box, drilled a couple of holes, attached two brackets, and installed the shade.
I chose the Signature Fabric Roller Shade in the color Charcoal to match our painted door. Adding the cassette with a matching fabric insert, makes the shade feel more complete instead of just a standard roller shade. The motorization is part of the easy lift system and is controlled with a remote. It came fully charged and comes with a charger for the battery. However, the battery should last from four to six months.
