We are halfway through the Spring One Room Challenge!! Six weeks seems like plenty of time to do a room makeover, but I know more than anyone how to underestimate that time. Especially when I tried to complete a bathroom during my second One Room Challenge. Yikes. However, this time I am doing everything I can to stay on track, even if I can only work on the project for a couple of hours a day.

THIS WEEK – BOARD AND BATTEN
Remember last week when I said that installing floors was the biggest DIY of this design plan? Um, I take that back. Installing the board and batten throughout the whole room is definitely a large task. I could have easily just installed it on one wall, but why do one when you can do all four?! I wanted a big impact in this small room and I think the board and batten is the perfect way to do that. Board and batten is such an easy and cost-effective way to add some dimension to a room. I love it so much, I’ve installed it in our dining room and master bedroom too!
This room gets so much sunlight and with the wood, everything is looking a little yellow right now. But just imagine it all painted a bright white! Phil the Fiddle is the only pretty thing in here so far and he is thriving. Since putting him in this room last Christmas, he has grown so much. So I think he’s found a new spot in the house!
This week, I also finished installing the craftsman window and door trim that matches the rest of our house. I’ll have a quick tutorial on how to get this look easily and affordably on the blog soon. The doors also got painted Valspar’s Filtered Shade (just like the rest of the house) and I installed the new door handles.
I also installed our new cordless shade from Select Blinds. Since, installing our roller shade in the entryway, I am obsessed with the amazing quality of their products. A simple white roman shade was a great choice for this guest room. It still allows a lot of light in and is private when needed.
I still have one and a half walls to finish and then it’s LOTS and LOTS of filling, caulking, and priming before I paint everything white! So close to being done, but still so far!
Be sure to check out what the other One Room Challengers are doing to their spaces!
