Styling our entry table is always a fun way for me to switch up the look of our decor without a ton of effort. I like to change it up every season or holiday, and sometimes just because. I shopped the house for all of these items, following a few basic tips. You don’t need much to be able to switch up the look of your decor. In fact, I have a post on the basic decor items to stock up on in order to decorate anywhere and any season. So, here are a few different ways to style an entry table and some of my favorite tips. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
FUNCTION
First and foremost is always function over beauty. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be both. If your entry is also the dropzone when you come home, then you need it to function and function well. I like to have a tray for keys, sunglasses, etc, and a mirror as a last-minute check before heading out the door.
FOCAL POINT
Create a focal point with a large piece of art or a mirror. Usually, it is centered for a more symmetrical look, but a large piece of art leaning against the wall and styled to one side is also very beautiful.
HEIGHT
Use height to frame out or balance the focal point. An easy way to do this is with a large lamp, a vase, or a faux plant. I like to do lamps on each side, or just one lamp and a large vase or plant. Either way, it frames the focal point and draws your eye inward.
LAYERS
Then, create layers with books or groupings of three. This can easily be done with candles, small artwork, beads, frames, etc. Keep it simple but grouped together.
These are just a few tips on ways to style an entry table, but they also apply to any other table or shelf styling. They work for bookcases, nightstands, side tables, etc, and are a fun way to decorate!
