Recently, I made a big update to our dining room just by switching the chairs. I love the look of black Windsor dining chairs and wanted to update our white ones. I planned on purchasing them but decided to paint them instead. I’m so happy I was able to use what I had and save money! (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
The white chairs we had before are also available in black. However, according to the Target website they couldn’t be shipped to our zipcode based on shipping restrictions. So, I decided to just paint our existing chairs. I used Rustoleum Universal in black with a satin sheen. I wanted them to be wipeable and durable but not super shiny. And luckily the finish came out perfect! If the Target chairs aren’t available in your area either, I found lots of other black Windsor dining chairs in many different styles.

Depending on the chair you can get a more modern look or a farmhouse vibe. I think these look the most similar to mine with the low back and curved top. I also love the super low round ones too and really love these from Pottery Barn, even though they aren’t necessarily the Windsor style.
It’s amazing how much black chairs, mixed with a wood table, and linen chairs can really warm-up a room. I was nervous about the black at first, but once again adding black to a room is always the answer to finishing the space. Our dining room feels so much more complete now!
