I love adding unique meaningful items and decor to our home. And if it doesn’t cost me anything, then that is even better. I rounded up five of my favorite free art ideas for the home. It’s something I have been doing for years now and is such an easy way to add wall decor to any room. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
PAGES FROM BOOKS OR MAGAZINES
This is one I do a lot and just did it again recently in our master bedroom makeover. I used pages from an old Pottery Barn Home book. It’s a printed quote on a black background and was a perfect match to my other black and white photos.
In our guest bathroom, I simply just took a page out of the book and framed in. And for Halloween, I took photos from a haunted house magazine to frame and display.
PRINTED QUOTES
Quotes are another great way to get free art. Type it up on the computer, select a creative font, and print it out. You can even print on a book page for a unique effect. I did that a few years ago for some easy Christmas decor.
CHILDREN’S ART
Children’s art can be so much fun and personal. Scribbles on a page become very fancy abstract art. Or fun paintings can be scanned and printed in black and white for a sophisticated look. Check out Brepurposed daughter’s art!
PRINTABLE ART
Browse the internet for free printable art and print out your favorites. I have a few here on the blog, like these vintage art prints. There are tons and tons available online and on Pinterest.
FABRIC
Fabric is a recent favorite of mine and I’m still loving this DIY framed textile art I did in our hallway. Leftover fabric or cheap pillow covers are perfect for a project like this. Textiles are so beautiful and framing them is an easy way to display art.
With all of these free art ideas, you can have unique pieces in your home that are sure to be conversation starters, bring you joy when walking by, and add some personality to your home.
