Week 5 was canceled to honor those that need to be heard during this horrible time in our country. These are challenging times for everyone and it seems to be just getting harder. This week starts to be the week in the process where you realize all the things you haven’t done yet and that the finish line is coming.
I can’t believe I am even typing that that considering I’ve technically been working on this room since February. However, as we all know with everything going on in the world, supplies are on backorder, out of stock, and shipping times are extended by weeks so I’m thankful for the extra time.

This week I have been working on the box beams for the ceiling. I knew I was going to need a lot of wood, so I ordered online at Lowe’s for curbside pick up. They canceled my order twice without reason. But it actually ended up being a good thing.
I originally planned on using 1×6’s and cutting them down to 4.5″ wide. However, it was going to be a lot of work and a lot of waste. So after some more planning and more math, I decided to use 1×4’s instead. I also wanted to have mitered edges for a super clean look, but again that would be a lot of work, and a lot of time I don’t have right now. So instead I will do basic box beams. I will share a full tutorial when I finish them!
TO-DO LIST:

I can’t wait to see your beams! We happen to be in the process of installing beams in our living room.
We have been doing a lot of home improvement projects to pass the time during the pandemic and I highly recommend Home Depot’s contactless pickup! We have tried both Lowe’s and Home Depot and it was like night and day. Home Depot seems to have really embraced the contactless pickup and have it down to a science. So much so that the very nice woman that runs their drive up orders at our local store now knows us by name 🙂
