It’s the last week of the One Room Challenge before the reveal! So far, I’ve finished up the DIY headboard, updated the nightstands, added a new gallery wall, and started on some DIY ceiling beams. I’m excited to get it all finished.

The final step in my DIY headboard and bed was the matching bed skirt. Adding it really changed the look and made it feel complete. It’s the same color and linen fabric that matches the headboard perfectly. I also decided against adding the wood trim detail around the headboard. Originally I wanted to combine my love for this bed and this bed for a sophisticated look. But after weeks of having the headboard without the trim, I really like it as is.
Recreating our photo wall made me nervous, but I wanted something that looked a little more organic and not so modern. Having different size frames and different colors created the casual look I wanted, and I was able to tie them all together with black and white photography and photos. Plus a little free art!
The beams are up! Okay well one of them is. And I still have three more left to finish. I agonized over the size and how I was going to put these together for an entire day last week and I’m so glad I took the time to really plan it all out.
This weekend it is time to kick into high gear and finish up this room! Finishing the beams, touch up paint, and decorating for the final reveal next week is on the list. Oh and I forgot I need to create a DIY Chinese bench like the one in my design board. Hopefully, I will have plenty of wood leftover from the beams.

This space is looking great! I really like what you did with the beams. I’ve never attempted adding beams, but it intrigues me and is something in the back of my mind for our lower level. Was it challenging? Or not too bad?
