The quote “have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to beautiful” by William Morris is one of my favorites. But I also believe items in our homes can be both useful and beautiful. Especially in the kitchen, so I’ve rounded up all of my favorite kitchen decor for open shelves. And even if you don’t have open shelves, these items are beautiful for kitchen countertops too. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)

Whenever I’m shopping for new kitchen items, I always look for the pretty stuff. Instead of something plastic, I spend the extra few dollars on glass or a ceramic bowl. Last year, I got rid of all of our random plastic mixing bowls and now only use these. Everything on our open shelves gets used on a weekly basis, none of it just decor only.

They are great for rolling up or folding and stacking inside a large bowl. We have had these recycled glass tumblers for years and it’s always the first glass I grab. I also love cookbooks. They are so pretty displayed and great for shelf styling. And you can never have enough mixing bowls or coffee mugs.
Over the years, I’ve applied this both useful and beautiful concept to almost every room of the house. And when I find something that is not, I donate it. I think when you can love every item in your home, it is so much more enjoyable. Whether it’s kitchen decor for open shelves or the countertop or even pretty cleaning supplies in the laundry room.
