Over the years, I’ve figured out several clever storage ideas for our home. Our home is not large and doesn’t have a lot of closets or storage spaces. So, I’ve discovered how to hide a lot of things in plain sight. At the end of the post, I’ve also rounded up all of my favorite decorative storage items! KEEP IT STYLISH
Around the house, I use baskets to hide things. These belly baskets are my favorite. I use one in the entryway for our shoes and slippers. One in the living room for Scooby’s dog toys. And another in the guest bedroom to hide my Pilates & Barre equipment. It’s all easily accessible when needed, but hidden when it’s not.
LEAVE IT OUT
Make it pretty and leave it out. Sometimes you don’t need to hide everything. In our kitchen, the open shelving holds all of our dishes and serving pieces. It’s not hidden and instead made into a pretty display.
DIY IT
Did you know our fireplace mantel holds all of our tv equipment, remotes, and favorite DVDs? It’s in plain sight, but you wouldn’t even know it’s holding everything until it’s opened. We don’t need to open it on a daily basis, but it’s nice to have the extra storage.
TRAYS & BOWLS
In our entryway, a large tray contains our keys, sunglasses, etc. And on my bedside table, I have a pretty bowl that holds hair ties, alarm keypad, jewelry, etc or anything else I need.
DISGUISE IT
Our house is very limited storage closets. So in our laundry room, I have wooden crates full of holiday decor. They are pretty and stylish and make great use of wasted space above the washer and dryer. Plus it keeps me on track. If it doesn’t fit in these crates, then I don’t need it.
If you have followed this blog throughout the years, then you know I like to keep everything simple, minimal, and organized. Sometimes I hate that our house is so limited on storage, but it has also forced me to come up with these clever storage ideas.
