A great way to add interest to a neutral color palette is with texture. Adding texture is also one of my favorite shelf styling tips. The decor on our built-ins is very neutral, however, each piece has a different texture. From the DIY paper mache bowls to the bubble texture on the black bowls, and of course the wood stool and wood candle riser. Even the concrete candle adds its own texture to the mix. The textures create visual interest and keep the decor from falling flat.

This black pot is from Pottery Barn and on clearance. And of course H&M Home always has the best vessels that are super affordable, like this one and this one.
