I love sharing organization tips and organization is one of the main tops here on the blog. The new year is a popular time for organizing, especially after all the holiday decor has been put away and the house feels like it’s getting a fresh start. So far, I’ve shared tips for the bathroom, bedroom, and kitchen. And now I have 10 tips for laundry room organization. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
BINS & BASKETS
In almost every organization post, I have to include bins and baskets. They are great for any room in the house but especially the laundry room. In our laundry room, we have two very large baskets that hold towels and dirty clothes. It’s so easy to toss towels in the baskets and keep everything off of the floor when sorting.
DRYING RACK
A drying rack like this folding one is perfect for any laundry space. And can be tucked away when not in use. Or if you have more wall space, a wall-mounted drying rack is great for delicate clothing and can be decorative too!
FOLDING AREA
Our laundry room is only about five feet wide, but luckily it has a countertop that is perfect for folding and stacking clothes that need to be put away.
OPEN SHELVES
Even if you are short on cabinet space, there is always room for open shelves. They provide storage and easy access to everyday items. In our small laundry room, adding this small shelf and hanging area is a great use of space. I DIYed an old white storage bin to look like this medical container. It holds all of our first aid items and medicine and is a perfect size.
HANGING AREA
Laundry is a dreaded household task for most people, but having a hanging area makes it so much easier. When clothes come out of the dryer and immediately onto a hanger, it makes the task so much simpler. I made this hanging area from scrap wood and it’s been a game-changer for our small space.
SMALL TRASHCAN
We also have a small trashcan for dryer lint, used dryer sheets, and random pocket finds. Again, it’s just something simple that makes the task of doing laundry so much easier.
GLASS JARS
Another favorite laundry room tip is these large glass jars. They are pretty enough to be left out on the counter but also hold laundry detergent and dryer sheets.
TURNTABLE ORGANIZERS
Inside the cabinets, I use these turntable organizers to corral cleaning supplies, laundry essentials, sprays, liquids, etc. Turntable organizers are my favorite for kitchen and bath organization but work so well in the laundry room too.
Overall, I’ve packed a lot of space-saving ideas and organization into our small laundry room. And I hope my tips for laundry room organization can help with your space too, large or small. I think it’s the simplest ideas and tips that can make daily tasks so much easier. And when they are pretty to look at, it’s such a bonus!
