Our entryway has been through many changes in the last few years, but I think I’ve finally got it right. A DIY console table, faux cement lamps, and the paneled wall are a few of my favorite projects. But, adding a simple rug softened the space and made it feel so welcoming. So, I’m sharing my favorite neutral entryway rugs and a few tips on how to choose the right size for your space. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
In our entryway, this rug from Hearth and Hand has been perfect. The 5×7 was a great size and it’s so affordable. And to keep it from slipping, I use this rug gripper tape. I used to have a difficult time decorating our entryway because of the size and angles but now I love it.
Of course, everyone’s entryway is different. And the size of the rug depends on how much of the floor you still want to show without the rug appearing too small. I prefer to keep six to twelve inches of space from the wall. The size and shape of the entryway is also a factor. Luckily our entryway is large and somewhat square. But a runner works great in a narrow entryway. And larger rugs, like a 5×7, look good in wider or angled entryways.

And the neutral colors will complement any style or design. I also prefer a rug that has a pattern, like this one and this one. The pattern will help hide dirt and imperfections. Overall, each of these rugs is affordable, durable, and will look great in any entryway.
