Last week I was on a kitchen organization mission and created DIY pantry and spice labels. I’ve always thought pantry labels were so pretty, but couldn’t pull the trigger on purchasing them. So, I used my computer to create some that I love, printed them out, and used a couple of household items to attach them to my containers and jars. (post contains affiliate links, see disclosure)
DIY PANTRY & SPICE LABELS
SUPPLIES
- FREE printables – download at the bottom of this post!
- scissors or paper cutter
- 2″ clear shipping tape
- food storage containers
- 4 oz glass spice jars
STEPS
- cut out the label using scissors or a paper cutter for straighter lines
- place the label on the container or jar, tip: use double-sided tape to ensure the label doesn’t move during the next step
- place shipping tape over the label and cut with scissors
It’s so easy! I don’t know why I didn’t do this years ago. And I love that they are interchangeable. I feel like with other sticky labels, once it’s on the jar or container it’s there forever. Or it’s a battle of removing sticky residue. But now, I can just print what I need and use them over and over again.
I also used the same technique with the spice jars. I ordered this affordable set of jars from Amazon and it comes with a funnel to transfer over the spices. I transferred over most of my spices. But, then I noticed that any of these organic spices from Walmart use the same glass jars! And I just added my labels. So simple and will be easy to replace when I run out.
Another tip I learned along the way while doing the spice jars, was to cut the tape right before the curve of the jar at the top. It was easier to press the tape down on the flat areas than trying to make it stay put around the curves.

Overall, I’m so happy to have everything labeled. I used to think it was just a “pretty Pinterest” organization thing. But now I’m obsessed. It makes cooking and enjoying our kitchen so easy. Especially when everything has a place and is easy to access. And if you aren’t in the mood to DIY, I linked a few of my favorite pantry labels below!

I am currently in the middle of a pantry redo and came across your post on my instagram feed. I absolutely love these labels! Thank you for sharing them. I was wondering if there is a way for them to be edit so that they may be customized to an individual pantry?
Not yet! But it is something I was considering and I will try to figure it out!
Amazing! I’ll keep an eye out on your page!
