MODERN FIREPLACE & MANTEL WITH STORAGE
One of the most popular and one of my favorite projects from earlier this year was our modern fireplace. This was a project that I wanted to do in our home for years, and it finally all came together. It was the last step to our living room makeover and completed the install with the DIY built-ins. And the best part is that the mantel also provides storage for all of our tv components and random remotes.
FAUX CEMENT LAMP
Another favorite is this faux cement lamp. It’s such an easy project, with just special spray paint and a couple of bottles of craft paint. and I was able to use the lamps that I’ve had for years. They totally changed the look and feel of our entire entryway. And pair perfectly with our black stained console.
DIY VINTAGE VASE
Another fun spray paint project was this DIY vintage vase. Again I used something I already had and totally transformed it into something new for our home. Using a few household supplies, this was another quarantine project that kept my mind occupied.
INSTALL AN EASY WINDOW TREATMENT
After years of battling with curtains for our sliding glass door, I finally figured out the perfect solution. Affordable curtains panels and a curtain rod with secret powers. This easy window treatment has become a favorite of mine, and I will probably never use anything else again.
STAINING TIPS AND BEST COLOR FOR PINE
One of the most common questions I receive about my easy DIY projects is what stain color I have used. I’ve used this combination over and over again. It’s the perfect combination without being too dark or too light. It can look rustic and modern all at the same time. And especially this year with our DIY ceiling box beams, mantel, and bathtub tray. I also used this combination on my corner floating shelves in the kitchen.
DIY UPHOLSTERED CHANNEL HEADBOARD
One of my favorite projects for our bedroom makeover earlier this year is the DIY headboard. It was inspired by one that is totally out of my price range and I recreated it for a fraction of the price. I feel like it’s the perfect focal point for our bedroom and I love the height that it adds.
DIY HOME OFFICE WITH BUILT-IN IKEA CABINETS
I’ve had this #hallffice for a few years now, but this year I decided to take it to the next level with built-ins and black glass cabinets. It’s been so great to have a home office this year and it also provides much-needed storage to our home. And because it is open to the hallway, it also had to pretty.
5 SCRAP WOOD PROJECTS
Another bonus from being at home this year was creating easy DIY projects out of all the scrap wood we had in the garage. My favorite and the one I use the most is the bathtub tray. But I also made a picture easel, vintage-inspired pedestals, simple box shelves, and a bench.
DIY VINTAGE ART
When I couldn’t’ find any pieces that I liked from thrift stores and flea markets, I decided to create my own vintage art. A phone app and pictures I’ve taken from many travels were the perfect solutions. It was an easy DIY project that I can use again and again.
This year was definitely a different one, but one I will always be grateful for. I learned so much about myself, my abilities, and how to just enjoy the simple life. I’m hoping to take those lessons and inspiration into next year. I hope these easy DIY projects can inspire you to think outside the box and/or use what you have already!
